This Sunday, after a short morning service at 10:30, we will be holding our Easter General Vestry.
So what is the Easter General Vestry?
It is if you like our Annual General Meeting. At this meeting the Treasurer will present the accounts for 2015, we will receive a report from our Youth Worker, I will give an overview of the life of the Parish in the last year and we will elect wardens and the Select Vestry?
So what has that got to do with me?
A lot. It is your chance to have an input into the work of the Parish. Because it is not just a business meeting. After the formal business, there is an opportunity to discuss the overall life of the Parish.
This is an important year for the Parish as we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Consecration of St Mary’s and the 200th Anniversary of the the consecration of the first Church on the present site. Subject to funds being available, we will be undertaking major work on the roof this year, otherwise we will defer till next year.
As well as this, many people who have served long and hard over the years are reaching the stage where they are having to step back. So we are looking for the next generation who will shape the life of the Parish into the future to step forward.
So we are standing at something of a cross roads in the life of the Parish of Howth.
I’ve never been before ….
So why not come this year? It would be wonderful to see a representation of all generations in the Parish making their contribution to the discussion on the overall life of the Parish into the future.
And if you’re not there? – your voice and your views may not be heard.
Looking forward to a large gathering on Sunday morning.
